The menu is readily understood and easy to navigate with a big, color display. A Q.Menu button is available that allows quick access to Picture Mode, Sound Mode, and Aspect ratio features. The big buttons of the remote has a backlight and are logically arranged. Its ergonomic design is quite attractive.
The quality of the audio output is quite impressive in the LG 50PJ350, and a considerable improvement of previous LG models. You can hear the inbuilt speakers reasonably well from distance of 10 feet, even at only 10% setting. This plasma TV’s Clear Voice II feature works much better than the previous LG models. At mid-range you can hear a noticeable boost in sound to enhance voice frequency, and this proves the feature works well. We concentrated the testing on this TV at a powerful volume output in the high to mid-range, and the sound quality comes a bit tinny and hollow sometimes.
If your main concern for plasma TVs is price, then this feature-rich LG PJ350 is a good fit for your need. Its $719 price tag cannot be compared to other LED or LCD TV models in its competition. But you won’t expect Samsung or Panasonic to take this situation without a challenge. Both manufacturers came up with 2010 720p plasma TV models, in fact, to compete with pricing. Among LG’s 2010 plasma TV line-up, the LG 50PJ350 is the lowest priced. Its feature set offering is unique in today’s TV world due to its 1366 X 768 resolution or 1080i or 720p. There’s really nothing wrong with the 720p, since most of the HD TV program broadcasts use this resolution, for as long as you get excellent picture quality. This particular plasma TV competes on its looks, some nice LG features, plasma technology, and of course, price.
From test results and other LG PJ350 reviews the optimum viewing distance for this TV is about 12 ft. There’s some inconsistent color shift at different brightness levels shown in shots of a split gray scale during calibration. This color shift shows up particularly when you view white or light content.
For an affordable plasma offering, I was surprised at the extent of calibration control options available for this model. One of the best advice we can provide you about this plasma TV is to position the Sharpness control to about 10% to 20%, because higher sharpness tends to increase motion artifacts and false edges. Don’t worry, you can easily fix this and there are no side effects.
If price is your main concern then this value-featured TV could be your best option. You won’t find anything in the LED vs LCD offerings that can compare to its $719 price tag. Unfortunately, Samsung and Panasonic won’t let this challenge go without a fight. So the former placed the Samsung PN50C450 and the latter the Panasonic TC-P50C2 to compete with the LG 50PJ350 on price. The Samsung offering will likely show a slightly better picture quality. Still, this LG offering has a number of slick features going for it, such as good speakers and a thin, tight cabinet.

One weakness we found is the amount of screen glare, even with the new “Skin Glass” system technology that LG claims helps in internal reflection. This feature of the LG PJ350 didn’t get the job done on this TV. However, the upside on this glare issue is very good picture depth. With HD content picture depth is a real plus for this plasma with LG PJ350 specifications. This is a positive result of “Skin Glass” technology.
If price is your main beef with plasma TVs, then the feature-rich LG PJ350 is the model you’re looking for. There’s nothing in the LCD or LED TV market to compare to this plasma TV’s $719 price tag. However, you won’t expect Samsung and Panasonic to take this challenge lying down. In fact, both have 720p plasma TV 2010 models to compete in pricing. One has the Samsung PN50C450 and the other has the Panasonic TC-P50C2 to compete with this LG plasma model. However, the LG PJ350 does have the slick features of a tight, thin cabinet and comes with very good speakers.

“- A lot of people use their LCD’s for their computers, Wii, and standard def ancient Replay DVR. - The remote control is better than I hoped for since LG took pains to put just the right number of controls that you need. It can do with better balance though… check that, the arrow buttons are fussy and awful. I’ll use my Harmony instead.
- The menu system is much better. There are no deep sub-menus to wade through and an input button on the remote is very useful in making it easy to switch sources.
- It has a very, very shiny screen and the reflection it makes on my back wall during the day is distracting, but I’m getting used to it. It’s no problem at night, of course.
- The picture wizard used to adjust the picture is really cool. You can save two custom settings and assign them to individual inputs. Nice.
- I made a picture adjustment once and left it at that. I don’t like greens and neon reds so I’ve cut back on them, so I don’t have any reason to fiddle with it LG PJ350 again.”

If you’re looking for a user LG PJ350 plasma TV user review, then here are some observations from one PJ350 owner who’s been using this LG plasma since October 2010:
“- I like it very much overall and I use it for my computer, Wii, ancient Replay DVR as well.
- Bummer, there’s no headphone or anything analog… there’s only an optical plug for the sound output. I don’t have a way to get the sound out to my stereo where I like it. The LG PJ350 speakers are not bad, but there’s not much bass on them. Thought I read somewhere it had analog output.
- This is still an issue. The most affordable receiver I can find that has a digital input is a $200 Sony.
- If anybody’s thinking of hooking it up with a Mac Mini, then do it by all means! You can output HDMI on the Mac Mini using a monitor converter plug and audio from the headphone jack – presto! You’ve got a heck of Hi Def Mac monitor. You’ve got your pick of screen resolutions from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1080. Nefix streaming looks great too. Just make sure to manage the screensaver and desktop so the menu bar and icons don’t burn in.
- It’s really cool to have a 50-inch computer monitor. I got an older receiver connect to the Mac Mini headphone and the sound’s good enough. There’s no sign of any kind of burn-in either. This LG plasma has a setting that makes the picture shift slightly once in a while.
- The picture I get from some local HDTV channels through antenna is pretty amazing. The colors coming from a set Sony DLP standard picture setting has too much cartoon-like color oversaturation for my taste however, though the sharpness and contrast is much better compared to my old DLP. I found “Expert Settings” in the menu, however, so I believe I can adjust the colors to my liking eventually.
- I’ve finally made the adjustments for the over-saturated colors, so now I’m very glad about its picture quality. I like it so much I’ve upgraded an old ElGato EyeTv so I can record HD programming over the air from my favourite local stations. Looks great, and it works great as well.
- All-in-all, it’s thumbs down for the LG PJ350 shiny, shiny glass and the lack of sound inputs. But as far as the price of the LG PJ350, its features, menu, and picture quality is concerned – it’s worth it for me.

As far as the LG PJ350 is concerned, LG has not abandoned the 720p HD specification in 2010. This plasma TV offers most of LG’s core features in a sleekly designed 2-inch case with a sub 1-inch bezel. For its affordable price tag, this plasma TV is feature-packed for your money.
It has an Intelligent Sensor feature that automatically adjusts the brightness to match the ambient brightness and color temperature of the lighting in the room. These automatic sensor adjustments give you energy savings. They’re marginal at best, and most viewers are more concerned with picture quality than energy savings anyway, so it’s likely that they won’t sacrifice a calibrated picture setting for a few dollars in monthly power bills. But this option is available for you if you place it in a room that lets the TV to run on a lower brightness level.
The LG PJ350 plasma TV makes use of LG’s “Skin Glass” technology to reduce internal reflections, as well as to protect the panel. It does this by reducing the distance from the filter to the outer glass by 70%.
